For many years my family has baked cookies and given platters to friends and family. Over the years, I’ve had a few friends request that I give them fewer cookies because they tend to lose self-control or they just want to limit the sugary goodies coming into their home. Three years ago, after I went paleo, I stopped baking and giving cookies; I didn’t eat cookies any more so I did not think it right to give cookies to my friends. Some of my friends thought I didn’t like them as much since I wasn’t gifting them cookies any more! I realized I really missed baking cookies and candies for my friends as well as the delivery process – we’d drive to everyone’s homes and deliver our gifts in person. Why not gift cookies, but in moderation? These cute mason jar cookie sets or, really, Ball jar cookies, are an easy way to give cookies for the holidays in a moderate quantity that won’t ruin anyone’s diet.
Everyone deserves cookies, right? Each of these adorable little Ball jam jars holds about 5-6 cookies, which is just enough for a family of 4 to have 1-2 cookies per person. I filled these with Spritz cookies, which I shared last week on the Handmade Holidays Blog Hop. You can make a gift set of several jars, each filled with just a few of each different type of cookie or candy that you want to gift. Give single jars as teacher and coworker gifts and give a set of jars to friends and family. It’s just enough of a taste of the holidays plus they’re cute too!
